How China treats advanced heart failure
This is the typical sequence our partner hospitals' multidisciplinary teams (MDT) follow — first identifying the cause, then matching the right device, structural or surgical path.
Illustrative pathway — your final plan is determined by a multidisciplinary team after review of your records, not by this page.
Determine the cause
A multidisciplinary team reviews whether the failure is ischaemic, valvular, electrical (dyssynchrony), congenital, or from cardiomyopathy — before choosing a path.
CRT · ICD · CCM
Cardiac resynchronization (CRT) re-coordinates the heartbeat, an ICD protects against sudden cardiac death, and CCM strengthens contraction when other options are exhausted.
Bypass · valve · congenital
Correcting the reversible cause — coronary bypass or stenting, valve repair or replacement (TAVR/TEER), or congenital defect repair.
LVAD · transplant
When the heart no longer responds, a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) or heart transplant is coordinated at a transplant center.
Treatment options
The specific treatment depends on the cause your MDT identifies. Reference prices are estimates; final quotes come from the hospital after case review.
CRT-P / CRT-D
ICD (single / dual / subcutaneous)
CCM
Coronary stenting / CABG
Valve repair / replacement (TAVR/TEER)

Reference costs
Indicative ranges for common procedures. Device, LVAD and transplant costs are quoted per case after review.
| Procedure | Reference cost (China) | Comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) | $12,000–$18,000 | vs $100,000+ in the US |
| Heart valve replacement / TAVR | $10,000–$15,000 | vs $80,000–$120,000 in the US |
| CRT / ICD device therapy | case-specific | device + procedure, quoted after review |
| LVAD | case-specific | quoted after review |
| Heart transplant | case-specific | quoted after review |
Prices are reference ranges only; the final quote comes from the hospital after your records are reviewed.
Frequently asked questions
Am I a candidate for advanced heart failure treatment in China?
This pathway is for patients with an ejection fraction of 35% or lower who still have symptoms after 3 or more months of optimal medication, have had repeated heart-failure hospitalizations, or whose doctor has said they may need CRT, ICD, LVAD or transplant. A free case review with your records confirms eligibility.
Which hospital is best for advanced heart failure in China?
Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital is a JCI-accredited, Grade III Class A hospital with a dedicated international medical center and multilingual, halal-friendly care — a strong choice for Southeast Asian patients. Fu Wai Hospital (Beijing) is China's #1 cardiology center with 18,000+ cardiac surgeries a year, and Anzhen (Beijing), Zhongshan (Shanghai) and Xijing (Xi'an) are leading advanced heart-failure and transplant centers.
How much does CRT or ICD cost in China?
Device therapy (CRT/ICD) and advanced procedures such as LVAD and transplant are priced per case. CABG runs about $12,000–$18,000 and valve replacement about $10,000–$15,000. A free case review gives a realistic estimate for your situation.
Do you offer heart transplant for international patients?
Heart transplant and LVAD are available at China's top cardiac centers, coordinated case by case. Eligibility, timing and cost are confirmed after a multidisciplinary review of your records.
